“Audio” label for Hemingway’s Cuban rum

22 August 2010

A “talking” label for one of the most prestigious Cuban distillates, the Gran Reserva 18 Vigia rum, named after the residence of Ernest Hemingway. The label will be produced by Modulgraf from Castelfranco di Sotto (Pisa) which is specialised in making labels and anti-forgery methods.

To “listen” to the label, all you’ll need to do is put a special reading device next to it, and a voice will explain the features of the top-class rum. The news is published on the web site www.winenews.it.

The label was designed by the owner of Modulgraf, Daniele Barontini, together with the German engineer Florentin Doring. With this label, it will be possible to “listen” to the rum’s features in Italian, English and Spanish.

Cuban rum is the first “talking” liqueur in the world

9 July 2010

Cuban rum is the first “talking” liqueur in the world. This is what’s happening in the Tuscan Leather District and it speaks three languages: Italian, English and Spanish. Giving a “voice” to the thousands of bottles that are about to set out half way round the world is Modulgraf from Castelfrano di Sotto owned by Daniele Barontini the talking label’s designer. Instead, the product is being marketed by Lapimar, the company from Santa Croce sull’Arno under the leadership of Maurizio Lapi, which works in the international food and beverage sector.

Lapimar called upon Barontini to make its company’s top product even more exclusive: its Ron Vigia Gran Reserva 18 años named after Hemingway’s residence in S. Francisco de Paula in Havana.

To listen to the rum, all you have to do is put the ecocoder (a simple pen) next to the bottle label to hear the famous liqueur’s whole story. The label might look identical to all the rest, but its secret is hidden in an innovative mix of ink which interacts with the multimedia decoder.
